Lately, I have been thinking about how I waste time on certain activities. One of these time-wasters is video games. There is no doubt in my mind that playing video games wastes time, but there are a lot of things that I can see as advantageous with video games. So here is a list of pros and cons, and let me know what you think.
- Time can be better spent:
- Reading (especially my Bible)
- Socializing
- Singing?
- Mousercizing
- Cleaning up around the place
- Planting veggies or fishing for bass in the pond next to me
- The nice thing about video games:
- Hand to eye coordination
- Wind down after a crazy day at work
- Socializing
- I spend less time on the Internet and watching DVDs
- It is quite fun
- Miscellaneous pros and cons
- There are not really any girl-gamers out there, so socializing is a guys-only thing (which is good or bad depending on how you look at it)
- The money spent on video games and the system breaking several times
- The money spent on fishing, gardening, books, and exercise equipment
- The looks your kids give you when you pwn them in Halo 3

Now many of you may shudder when the name “Ron Paul” is mentioned. After a recent trip to D.C., I met with people who said, “Oh, you are one of those people!” after saying that I would vote for Ron Paul.
First of all, what do they mean by “those people”? I think they are getting me confused with someone else. Well, I could see why they would say “those people” because there are some people who are quite looney when it comes to “proclaiming the name of Paul” as if he was some kind of savior or something. Rest assured, I am not one of those. I don’t deny that I would align myself strongly with the positions he advocates, but what person doesn’t do that to the candidates they support? Fred, Giuliani, Mitt, etc. have people that support them and the reason they do is because their presuppositions about politics/life/religion fits with the candidate.
I am not going to try and debate the type of crowd that reads this blog or persuade you to vote for Ron Paul. I honestly would only try to do that face-to-face. What I do want you to realize is where I stand and how I portray my life. I believe that through my actions and pursuit of excellence, you will see that I am not some mindless drone that reiterates what some big-wig Republican is telling you how to vote.
To be honest, Ron Paul is the penultimate under-dog. Does that mean he is going to win? Who knows, but there are times when the under-dog finally has his glory. I believe that time is coming…

I have been watching my spending lately and with Mint I can see my trends in expenses. I have been trying to cut bad spending habits out of my life, and it is especially hard with “another mouth to feed”in the house. I still don’t see a lot of the savings right now, because I just started to shift into this lifestyle.
Here are some things that I currently do to save money:
- I keep the house at 78 degrees when I am home and I turn off the AC/heat off when I am not there.
- I turn the lights off and have installed Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) in approximately 80% of the light bulbs in my house.
- I do the laundry and dishes at night when electric prices are off-peak (meaning less).
- I shop at Goodwill for t-shirts, polos, and khakis or corduroy pants.

Well, after some time away I’d come back with a blast. Not really, but I did want to give you all some great music to listen to. Since I had some people say that my music was way out there or stuff they never heard before. I am nothing in comparison to Jon’s taste in music because he knows all of the obscure music that is good.
So here is my “album” for those who are leaving again for college and far away places.
Album Title - Alas, You Have Gone Again
Compiled By - Joe
1: Blitzen Trapper - Summer Twin (Website - MySpace)
2: The Philippians - Heart Machine (Website - MySpace)
3: The Snow Police - Every Car You Chase
4: Copeland - Walking Downtown (Website - MySpace)

7: The Fold - Gravity (Website - MySpace)
8: Gary Jules - Mad World (Website - MySpace)

I will be without Internet at my place for about a month, so I won’t be able to check my email as regularly. Call me if you have to get into contact with me.
